On Monday, October 24, I had to have shoulder surgery. Now I gotta tell you I was sort of looking forward to getting this done and over with. Now--not so much. I have had other surgeries, but this one is kicking my butt. Ok so the pain isn't really the problem, the fact that I am right handed and it is my right shoulder--that is the problem. UGH.
I have never felt so useless in all my life. I am out of balance--my arm is in a sling. I don't feel safe walking outside without someone with me, so I am stuck in the house. Luckily my mom has taken me grocery shopping and out to see my grandmother, but other than that, I've pretty much been housebound.
I have been doing the exercises they told me to do, but I can only cause myself so much pain. :( I was getting worried---the pictures show the dude with his arm above his head, I am lucky to get it at at 45 degree angle! My dad has had the same surgery so I told him that I don't feel like I am making that much progress on my stretches they gave me--My dad just smiled and said--no worries they'll push you during physical therapy and get you where you need to be.
I am so not looking forward to physical therapy!
Miss going to the gym with Brandy. We were just getting into Zumba! I am very anxious to get back to it, but know it will take some time.
I guess this is God's way of teaching me patience. So I guess I will just try to enjoy my time at home, work on my balance, and heal.
I'm sorry to hear that your recovery process isn't going very quickly. I can't imagine being without my right arm! That's got to be annoying! But hang in there. When everything is healed and better, you'll be glad that you did the surgery. Physical therapy is sucky from what I hear. When Daniel got his finger smashed with a sledgehammer, he had to do physical therapy and he wanted to cry every time. Wait...this probably isn't making you feel any better...I'm not doing a good job at this! Let's just leave it at this...we're praying for you momma and if you need anything, just let us know. And I really do mean that. We'll help in any way you need us. Love ya!
